What to do in Hue Vietnam -Travel to Hue - signature dishes for restaurants

What to do in Hue Vietnam -Travel to Hue - signature dishes for restaurants

Is hue worth a visit?
Is it just a historic town with ruins, temples and tombs?
This is some of the questions raised by the organizing committee.
Our office decided to travel overseas every year.
Therefore, the organizing committee has done hard work in making this choice.
It is not easy to choose a destination suitable for different tastes and needs.
In addition, the selection process must follow the guidelines and standards of certain companies.
Weekends and public holidays (1)e.
Several airlines travel to and from Malaysia to most Capital and secondary cities in Southeast Asia.
Therefore, with these numerous choices, it is difficult for the organizing committee to decide the final destination.
They finally chose a tour group to Port dan. Hue -
Hoi An in Vietnam meets all the above criteria.
Booking low-cost airline AirAsia flights in advance helps reduce the flight budget section.
It is essential to meet this need.
To Port Arthur Airport.
After arriving, we went to hue and stayed for-
Then I went to Hoi An and stayed for two nights.
We ate half the day four.
Travel to Da Nang in the city.
Then, before returning to Kuala Lumpur on a late afternoon flight, we visited some of its attractions.
This review will cover vacation and travel in hue.
Travel reviews for Hoi An and Port dan will be in separate articles.
Our flight from Kuala Lumpur to dan Port Vietnam took off 10 minutes earlier than scheduled.
The Airbus A320 is almost fully loaded-200.
I spent 2 whole.
5-hour flight time to read information
Flying magazines and sleeping!
We landed smoothly without any turbulence.
Immigration and Customs clearance are fast without any trouble.
Malaysians do not need a visa or fill in the entry permit form;
So this is a quick clearance.
The immigration officer is too serious to say much.
It would be neat if he smiled and said "Welcome to Vietnam" or something welcome, not a serious face.
Similarly, immigration officials in most countries have serious habits.
In addition to the citizens of the country shown in the table below, Vietnam's entry visa is a must-have visa for all.
The Vietnamese consulate or embassy in your country can issue a visa before your departure.
Or you can apply onlineLetter of approval
Then, receive an entry visa upon arrival at any international airport in Vietnam.
After settlement with Immigration and Customs, the local travel agency arranged two buses for us.
It's 5 hours from Port dan to hue.
It sounds like a long and boring journey, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Coastal and Hillside Drive is one of the most scenic drives in central Vietnam.
Our journey takes us through winding steep mountain roads, country roads and scenic coastal roads.
The scenery and environment along these routes are amazing.
I think this must be one of the reasons why the United States lost the Vietnam War.
Their attention was distracted by the scenic background!
The trip is worth it and if you happen to arrive on a long flight I can guarantee you will stay awake and be fascinated by the scenery.
Hue is just 62 miles (110 km) north of Port dan, but travel time is incredible. 5 hours!
Long and tortuous roads along the slopes and busy roads along rural and coastal areas forced drivers to drive at a slower pace.
In fact, this is the only road that connects the country from north to south (our travel guide calls it a highway ).
Therefore, you will also find it difficult to overtake trucks traveling on this route at times.
This is a scenic drive so 3.
Can Endure 5 hours
Hue is located in central Vietnam, about 684 miles (1,100 km kilometers) north of Ho Chi Minh City and about 435 miles (700 km kilometers) south of Hanoi ).
From 1802 to 1945, hue was once the capital of Vietnam.
Under the rule of thirteen different emperors in the imperial dynasty.
With numerous palaces and temples, this historic city is an important part of the world-famous Vietnamese cultural heritage.
When hue lost its position as the capital of Vietnam, the city was ignored and suffered economic losses.
However, in 1993, when UNESCO recognized hue as the owner of world cultural heritage and intangible human heritage, it began to see improvements in visitors and businesses.
There are a lot of things to do and see in tone.
Historic sites, imperial buildings and French colonial architecture offer us a wide range of options, including palaces, pagodas, tombs and temples.
We only have one day and one night to explore hue, and the guide took us to the main attractions of hue, the Timu tower of Imperial Castle, the tomb of khai Dinh and the cruise of the Xiangshui River.
We also visited the local Dongba market.
The Vietnamese currency is VND, which uses the symbol "VND ".
$1 = 20837.
GBP1 = 33177.
EUR1 = 26691.
Auddâsup =-21622 cm. 1.
Instead of driving to the scene, we took the Xiangshui River cruise to tienmuta.
After the long bus the day before, this 1-
The hour dragon boat cruise is a pleasant change and a great way to visit the pagoda.
Like most boat trips, shipowners sell souvenirs as well.
If you want to buy these souvenirs, wait until the end of the trip as you may get a good deal.
The fridge magnet I was eager to buy was originally provided at 30 000 VND.
I bargained for the 15 thousand Vietnamese South Shield but was rejected.
My asking price was accepted just before the ship arrived at the destination. I paid for it.
Later in the Dongba market, even before bargaining, a similar refrigerator magnet was already on sale!
This can be very frustrating, so it may be useful to know the details in the art of negotiation.
I was told later that I had to ask for at least one quarter that was originally offered.
After a while, the boat can be boring because there is not much activity on both sides of the river bank.
However, we can see Truong Tien bridge, Phu Xuan bridge, Da Vien bridge, and Bach Ho bridge, a railway connecting the north and south of the city.
This boat trip is part of our tour group, but it is still affordable if you are traveling alone and on a reasonable budget.
Share the boat with other tourists for $3. way journey. 2.
Nguyen Hoang, the ruler of southern Vietnam, built en muta at 1601 after hearing local legends.
The legend described an old woman who appeared on the mountain, saying that one day a good ruler would build a tower here for the sake of peace and prosperity of the country.
To fulfill this prophecy, he began to build the tower.
Near the Perfume River, Thien Mu pagoda is located on the Hill of Ha Khe in his 50 s
Feet on the River (15 m ).
From the grounds of the temple, you can see magnificent views of the river and surrounding areas.
This travel manual describes Tienmu as the best pagoda in the country.
It was true that I was impressed by the surrounding scenery, the beautiful architecture and the vast two hectares of land.
In addition to being a place of worship, there are several artworks, statues and a huge copper bell weighing 7,242 (3,285 kg) in the temple complex.
I saw the student monk studying in a building with the mattress on one side.
I think this must be the place where he studies and sleeps.
This vast space gives a sense of tranquility and I feel relaxed.
Although there are a lot of things to see and do, 30 minutes is enough to cover all areas.
It is worth a visit to tienmuta, and the best place is that there is no entrance fee.
Don't forget to see the car driving Thich Quang Duc, who lit his own fire to protest the South Vietnamese government.
Take a boat cruise, rent a bike or rent a motorcycle, join a local tourist bus or taxi and you can get to Thien Mu pagoda. 3.
Similar to the practice of the Egyptian pharaoh, the Vietnamese emperor will design and supervise the construction of the tomb in his lifetime.
Some people may not live long enough to see the completion of the grave.
According to the tour guide, the marriage between members of the Nguyen family is very common.
Therefore, future generations are not healthy and have a long life span.
When Khai daánh became the Emperor of Vietnam in 1916, he also died before seeing the tomb finished.
His numerous trips to France affected the architecture and interior design of his tomb, a mix of Eastern and Western elements.
It uses expensive construction materials, including gold and porcelain from China and Japan.
The craftsmen will then break the porcelain and form a complex and beautiful mosaic mural.
To fund the expensive job, he added 30% of the tax.
This made him an unpopular emperor.
Because he is unpopular, there are a few stories on him, some of which may not be true.
According to our tour guide, there are rumors that Khai Dinh especially likes men despite several wives and concubines bines.
Khai Dinh even used all-male dancers.
His only son completed the mausoleum and he was not interested in the welfare and management of the state.
The last Emperor of Vietnam left the country and settled in France.
Like most tombs and temples in Vietnam, be prepared to walk and climb mountains.
Prepare your walking shoes and bring a few bottles of drinking water.
About half an hour drive from hue.
Although it is relatively small compared to other tombs and has little decent garden land, it is still worth a visit.
The entrance fee to Khai Dinh Tomb is 0. 8 million Vietnam shield. 4.
The Imperial castle of hue is almost similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing, but not so grand and beautiful
Save as the latter.
When I visited the Forbidden City in Beijing in 1998, I was disappointed to see a fast food restaurant in the Forbidden City.
Thank God, this is not the case with the God of Hue.
Then I may miss it again as this compound is spreading in 2-
It's been a few hours.
The Imperial City used by the ruling Nguyen royal family is surrounded by walls measuring 1.
2 miles (2 kilometers) on both sides ).
These walls are surrounded by the moat, which has water nearby.
The central part of the Imperial city covers an area of about 49. 5 acre (20ha).
The Vietnamese dynasty, which was first built in the 11 th century, is located on the remains of a Chinese fortress dating back to the 7 th century.
The sturdy and magnificent buildings have withstood several wars and regime changes in the past 13 centuries.
Shunhua was close to the border between North and South Vietnam, and suffered the greatest losses in the Vietnam War.
Like most of Vietnam's historic sites, the Imperial City was seriously affected not only during the US/Vietnam War, but also during the early war with France.
Some of the important buildings of imperial city were destroyed, and there were no remains but empty land.
You can see the bullet.
Several buildings still intact were covered with walls.
In these wars, even some cultural relics were stolen.
You can now see their presentation in France and other countries.
This UNESCO World Heritage site is worth a visit, but there are many ways to go.
For a small fee, you can do a motor tour in the compound or ride an elephant. 5.
Visit the Dongba market and see the locals do their daily shopping.
This noisy and busy market has many activities to buy and sell local food, traditional handicrafts, souvenirs, local specialties, jewelry, shoes, handbags, the flowers and everything you can imagine make the Dongba market a must-visit destination for hue.
This is a period of time off from visits to temples, stupas and other historical sites, and so far you may need to see and do something different.
In the biggest market of Hue, like rabbit warren, you may get lost, so pay attention to your manners.
Put your bargaining art into practice before buying, and so far you should have mastered it.
This market is also an ideal place to buy traditional Vietnamese clothing.
Most of my friends bought Vietnamese coffee and their decision affected me as well. The 3-in-
1 cup of coffee (500gm) cost me 75 000 VND.
Later, at the airport, similar brands and sizes were sold at a price of 80 volts.
I don't think I got a good bargain because the price at the airport tends to be at least 20% more.
My negotiation skills have failed!
Dongba market is on the Truong Tien Bridge on the north bank of Xiangshui River.
If your hotel is on LeRoi Street and takes a leisurely walk along the river bank and the end of the street, you will see the market.
If you have more time to spend in hue, then you can choose to do more visits to tombs, temples and historic sites or indulge in massages, spa treatments or shopping.
If you want to visit the tomb of the Emperor a few more times, then try the tombs of Ming Mans and Du De.
Although described as beautiful and worth a visit, it can't beat the tomb of Khai Dinh.
You may want to try many SPAs other than shades.
Local Vietnamese usually visit these hot springs.
They receive some foreign tourists occasionally.
There are several spas to choose from and your hotel can recommend a better spa.
Alternatively, go to the soles of the feet for a massage or have a good body massage in most of the hue.
We went to the place next to the hotel for $15 an hour, either foot massage or body massage.
This ratio is very high for Vietnam.
This is almost similar to our allegations.
In neighboring Cambodia, it costs only $5 an hour.
So far, you must have been walking for hundreds of miles, and your legs and body are now sore from walking, climbing mountains and carrying your luggage.
Good foot massage and/or body massage is good for you.
Despite the high price, it is worth it.
You may want to try manicure and pedicure for women.
At the place where I had my foot massage, there were two Austrian women enjoying their manicure and pedicure.
They rarely do this in their country because it is too expensive.
In Hue, however, it's cheap and it's time to indulge.
The price starts at $6 and it's OK for me.
If you prefer adventure, you can visit the DMZ, which is located parallel to the 17 th, marking the border between southern and northern Vietnam.
If you take part in a tour group, you will visit the Viet Cong tunnel.
You need a whole day for this trip.
Stroll through the city or Le Loi Street (parallel to the Xiangshui River) and immerse yourself in the beautiful French colonial architecture.
Although most buildings are poorly maintained and require a new layer of paint, it is worth capturing with a digital camera regardless of the balance of these buildings.
As you stroll around the city and capture the local daily lifestyle.
Would you like to bring home a unique Vietnamese souvenir?
Join the cooking class and learn to buy and pick the right ingredients at the local market to cook Vietnamese dishes.
King's restaurant at Nguyen Sinh Sac 27. St.
Missy Roo, 11 Lao Street, Pham Ngu.
Tinh Gia Vien, 20/3 St. Hampton Street
Y Thao Garden in Thach Han St. 3
If you like to eat more than cooking, then you can take part in the cooking tour.
Traditional Vietnamese cuisine is famous for its unique taste.
This tour will take you to several restaurants and enjoy the signature dishes of hue cuisine from appetizers, main courses and desserts.
TiVo will pick you up at your hotel and take you to this 3-hour tour. Anything Else?
If you still have time, visit the traditional craft village and taste the Vietnamese dome cap and incense.
The difference is to see Vietnamese martial arts at wanan Phai school.
45-the entrance fee is $2minute show.
Approximately 8-fubai International Airport-miles (13-
South of downtown hue, it takes half an hour to get to the city by taxi.
Although it has the label of "international airport", only domestic routes are currently provided.
The only international flight took off from neighboring Laos, but the passenger capacity of the aircraft was very poor and the airline decided to cancel the flight.
It takes about $8 to get to the city by taxi from the airport.
From the city, you can take a Vietnamese air bus from the city office at 12 Hanoi Street.
If you are planning to take off from outside Vietnam, you can fly to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
Then take a domestic flight to fubai International Airport.
If you are flying at Port dan International Airport (which we do), you must continue to make your way to hue via road or rail.
Vietnam has a good network of train systems connecting northern and southern Vietnam, and through hue.
Schedule and fare.
Shunhua railway station is about 15 minutes' drive from the center of the city and is located at the south end of Leroi Street West.
If you want to travel in style, take the Livitrans train.
This is a separate coach that is only connected to certain rail lines from Hanoi to hue.
Livitrans is a private company that charges 50% more for this luxury trip than a regular first class ticket.
The current price is $55-way trip.
Hue is also good-
Connected via a public bus network.
Cuu bus station is the terminal for buses serving southern destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City, dan port and Hoi.
This terminal is about 2-
A few miles from the city center.
For northern destinations such as Hanoi, you have to go to the Hoa bus station, about 3-
A few miles from the city center.
If you are going to take a bus, be prepared for a long trip.
The trip from Hanoi to hue is about 16 hours, leaving at seven o'clock P. M. and arriving at nine o'clock A. M. the next day.
It takes about 6 hours from Hoi An and about 5 hours from Port dan.
You can walk around the city by TiVo (bike rickshaw), bike, motorcycle taxi or regular taxi.
Travel along the Xiangshui River and take dragon boats.
Alternatively, you can walk as hue is very compact and most shops, restaurants and hotels are within walking distance.
The Costo prices vary and you need to look around at the prices and bargain at a fair price.
Your hotel can help you understand the reasonable fare for your destination.
I was told it would take about 5 000 VND every 10 minutesminute.
Bike rental is very popular and I see tourists riding bikes around the city to tourist attractions beyond the city's limits.
It costs only $2 a day, saving the hassle of haggling with a taxi driver or a TiVo driver.
It costs about $3 per dragon boat ride.
We are traveling at the package price and the hotel is very accommodating.
All of our hotels are 3.
5 stars in the city center.
If you are traveling as a free and independent traveler, you will have no problem.
According to your budget, Hue has many budget backpacker hotels to choose from, clean and comfortable
Range hotels and luxury hotels.
Most of these hotels are centrally located and you can find several options online.
However, most of the cheaper backpacker budget hotels are not listed online.
If you plan to stay in one of these cheaper budget hotels, you 'd better book an expensive one or two nights online.
Upon arrival in Hue, you can look around for budget hotels that meet your requirements.
As a guide, the backpacker budget hotel is located near Pham Ngu Lao and on the adjacent streets.
For other hotels, you may want to find hotels with beautiful views of Xiangshui River on Le Loi Street.
We were in hue in November, the biggest month of autumn.
The rainy season begins on September and ends on January.
We were told that the best time to visit hue was between April, when the weather was not too hot and not too wet.
September is the hottest month.
Temperatures range from 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit) from October to 3, and the weather gets cold, but you will also rain.
From local food to fast food, there are many kinds of food in Vietnam and the price is reasonable.
My suggestion is to try the local food.
Traditional Vietnamese dishes use fresh ingredients and rely heavily on herbs.
The influence of Buddhism means less meat and oil and more vegetables.
Hue is known for its unique dishes, where the presentation of the food is as important as the taste of the food.
I have not tried to eat in this restaurant, but the brochure lists the confetti restaurant as a hue special.
Other restaurants on the brochure show only Vietnamese dishes.
Vietnamese is the official language and is used throughout Vietnam.
English is now the second language.
It was once Russian, but it was not used after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The older generation in southern France speaks French.
So if you can speak English, then you should have no problem communicating with the locals in addition to communicating with street vendors or shopkeepers on the market.
Vietnamese are polite and if you do the same, you will be fine.
Respect their culture and places of worship and they will respect you as well.
There is no trouble in Vietnam, but don't take it for granted.
Tourists have always been the target of petty thieves, handbags, scams and pickpockets, not only in Vietnam but also in other developed countries.
So always be alert and don't walk alone in secluded places, use your brain!
It feels safe to walk at night, but the TiVo driver or motorcyclist may approach and ask if you want to go for a massage or have a good time.
If this happens, politely reject their offer.
They will try again, but they will give up after a while.
Our travel guide advises us not to go to places recommended by these people as we may be cheated.
If you don't feel safe, go quickly and avoid eye contact.
Safety Ranking: 3.
The biggest cost of any trip is air tickets and accommodation.
Depending on where you are from, the ticket may prevent you from deciding Vietnam as your tourist destination.
I met Canadian and French travellers who spent a month or more in Vietnam to "maximize the price of the ticket ".
Tickets will be cheaper if you book earlier.
Budget hotels are cheap and clean, and if you feel the right one, you have already settled your accommodation budget.
In general, hue is cheap and there are many fascinating attractions to see and do, I like my stay in hue very much.
This is value for money and the organizing committee has done a great job in choosing the city as part of our trip.
Overall Ranking: 4 stars in 5.
