Value for money in Vietnam Palace is a great place for family or leisure dinners.
At 6 on Saturday night, small family groups dribble from Goodwood Road into Vietnam's palace.
To be sure, this is a must if you go out for dinner with your child.
Happy family dining windows can be closed at any time after 6. 45pm.
This is just an advantage of this suburban restaurant.
You will feel that the shared dining table experience will be poorer without children.
Don't let this delay the adults. only diners. Come 7.
At 30, the children were transported home to sleep and the modern room was packed with adults
Chatter chatter, a busy service, is full of fresh flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.
The surroundings are very short for a Vietnamese restaurant-
There are no laminated tables and vinyl floors.
The table is linen.
Dressed in gorgeous jellyfish,
Crystal chandeliers and large aquarium.
The only obstacle is a plasma TV with high hanging on the wall, sometimes showing concerts, sometimes playing sports and sometimes turning off.
This is from the former residence of the palace in Guger Street.
Fifteen years ago, when the dining Street was home to offices and shops and the Hutt Street was the place to eat, the Lu family and partners opened their restaurant.
Gradually, the restaurant began to take over and opened several more Vietnamese restaurants, although by that time the palace had gained loyal followers, many of whom still ate every week.
Today, the building is built by the modern Chinese restaurant, Concubine-
Part of the Empire of the mini-hospitality of Walter Ventura and friends, located around the corner of Guge and Moffett, also includes a snack restaurant/bar, Mesa renga and new UK India.
Vietnamese style dining is sharing.
Most tables have a Lazy Susan.
There are price banquets or you can customize your own from the big menu.
In the evening, our group started drinking a couple of Saigon 333 beers ($7 per bottle), a Hill Smith estate lovesickness for a reasonable price of $26.
We can choose a rose, 12 Red, three Sparks or some cheap wine from nine other white wines --
Southern Australia.
First of all, we ordered spring rolls, prawn cold rolls and a plate of goi ga (chicken salad ).
This long and crispy cylindrical burrito is made from Vietnamese tradition, thin and packed with vegetables and served with a sweet pepper dip.
The cold rolls are also good with fresh prawns, Vietnamese mint and fans, and peanut dipping sauce.
Our favorite is goi ga, a seemingly mild coleslaw with shredded chicken, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, onions, celery and mint, add nuts and coriander to the chili sauce.
Be careful, it is hot but tempered by the zingy herbal combination.
Next, the main character to be shared and the real star of the show came --
The name is muoi muc, which is squid with salt and pepper.
So everywhere, it's very safe to name it the official dish of the country.
We don't know what's in the spicy marinade, but the tender squid lightly baked with scallions and fresh peppers is the best we 've ever tasted.
Another Vietnamese dish, nem nuong or charcoal roast pork meatballs, is also well prepared.
A large portion of the food next to the vermicelli, mint, cucumber and vegetables is to make your own cold rolls on the table with rice paper and a dip bowl.
Curry chicken is a spicy but sweet chicken that has been stewed with coconut milk with sweet potatoes, broccoli, peppers and corn. Other stir-
Fried dishes are enough, but nothing special.
The sizzling steak in the roast meat sauce, the chicken in the chili and lemon grass, and the crispy chicken of the young man.
For groups or something interesting, you can't go through the Vietnam Steamboat (lau canh chua), which is a big pot of sour soup where you can cook chicken or seafood yourself.
Who needs dessert after such a big meal, but if you have to, the most traditional choice is banana glutinous rice and coconut milk.
Others include predictable fried ice cream, banana fritters, fruit and ice cream.
More surprises await the arrival of the time to pay the bill, as the Vietnam Palace is really value for money and a great place to relax and have a family meal, worthy of royal fuss. Lunch: 11am-2. 30pm Thurs-Sat. Dinner: 5pm-11pm six days. Closed Tuesday. Seating: 70.
