I promised to branch outside Elizabeth Street, but I had to check out the Boon Burger in Burlington.
Although it is a small chain store, it has an important position in the field of food here --
Vegetarian burger cafe.
In fact, most people think of "burger" and "vegan" as two circles of a Venn chart that will never intersect, but as we found when we saw the menu the other night, in fact, the two terms can overlap completely.
Our friends were there before we found the parking lot (
This could be a challenge on Friday night in downtown Burlington).
So as we walked in, we strode past the counter and joined them at the long wooden table in the front room.
Behind it is a wooden banquet, other tables, floors and counters with wooden themes throughout the decoration.
City farmhouse.
We looked around at our friends, two of whom stayed vegetarian, one of whom was a strict vegan.
What are we going to do?
Do you order at the counter?
It was called "cafe" and no one came to meet us so we went to the counter.
We passed a drink fridge while we were in line and I took out a factory.
I have a chance myself. (
There is also Bo wine and 13 Street wine. )The non-
The choice of alcohol is impressive, with a variety of real brew sodas, juices and kombucha.
I started ordering hamburgers.
There are four different pies, all gluten free: Gospel pie, Buddha pie, white pie and black bean pie.
Several ingredients are listed on the menu, so after I decided to eat a white pie, I searched for 30 burgers and chose the surf lawn.
After placing the order, we got a statue of okapi (
I don't know what it is, one of my companions inspired me)
Put our order on the table.
We sat and chatted together, and I was basking in pictures of the huge farm landscape on the wall, where cows and clouds took a prominent position.
They are relaxed.
Just like I imagined a cow in a vegetarian restaurant.
Our food is cafe style. "Kale salad? "(
One of us raised our hands)Bollywood fire? "(
Raise another hand)
We took a bite of the burger.
Or try.
The burger was big and full of goodies and it was a challenge to get my teeth up and down at once.
At this point, most of us started using cutlery to make burgers and many napkins.
A smart companion keeps it tidy by ordering a pack instead of bread, which is the choice of any burger, as if simply putting it on a lettuce bed.
Still, it is worth it.
My burger, the surf and the turf blend a lot of flavors-
There are barbecue sauce, peach chutney sauce and Tata sauce, and some calories from sridesa (
Frank's red wine and tomato sauce are on the table).
There are potatoes, cucumbers, cabbage and tomatoes on the meat cake.
This place is not for the sake of subtlety, but for a powerful bite on your face.
In this case, more is more.
The pie itself is quite satisfactory.
Once again, a whole set of raw materials (
Hummus, oats, lemon juice, etc)
It's baked, which gives it a nice, half-company texture.
My partner ordered a Bollywood fire and it was another Bread Feast.
In this case, Foti has a fudge texture that I find unattractive, and yam stands out more for me.
My partner likes them though, but she agrees with me.
However, delicious curry mayonnaise, jalapeno, cheeky skin and smoked Bakken (
Vegetarian alternatives)
A ton of spicy food was added.
Bread is a tricky problem for me.
While I appreciate that they are lighter, like a thin focaccia, they are too easy to break down a bit for the amount of food they carry, which leads to the factors of confusion.
In addition to our burgers, we also had super leafy kale and arugula salad with half cooked kale, arugula, lettuce and spinach.
Chopped beets make it feel healthier, dates add sweet elements to the lemon Baili sauce and I think it might be more lemons.
We also ordered poutine to try it out, and at first I was a little chewy with the texture of the fries, but then I realized they were baked (
As the website says, nothing is fried or microwave).
The chips are covered with sesame seeds and like gravylike sauce, which my vegetarian friends love very much.
The dessert for Boon is coconut ice cream with a choice of chocolate syrup or strawberry toppings.
Strawberries are in sharp contrast to ice cream, making it a better choice so far.
During our meal, I mentioned many changes on the burger --
There are many choices.
My vegetarian friend replied, "there is a choice.
Vegetarians don't usually have to make any decisions.
They just pick vegetarian food on the menu.
"It's definitely not a problem here.
