The Darton restaurant sells its struggling Red Lobster seafood chain to private

Some radical investors opposed the move.
They advocate a larger restructuring of Denton, which also has a chain of Olive Garden restaurants.
The profit of Red Lobster was hit by the rising price of shrimp.
Darton's shares fell more than 4% in the News of the sale.
Darton operates 706 Red Lobster stores in the United States and Canada, accounting for about 30% of its total sales.
The company said it would use more than $1 bn in revenue to pay off its debt.

After the recession slashed spending, Red Lobster has been trying to attract American diners to restaurants.
It also has to avoid competition between Chipotle and Panera, which does not offer table service and therefore has a slightly lower price.
The rise in shrimp prices has further affected the chain because of an incurable bacterial infection, which has reduced inventory in Southeast Asia.
Analysts at Credit Suisse estimate that the price of Red Lobster could rise by $30 this year.
The chain is known in the United States for its "endless shrimp" feature.
