The Palace restaurant in Bedford is considered the oldest restaurant in Maine, a casual breakfast and lunch place because of its height.
Excellent food in the 1927 Pollard dining car.
Shopkeepers Chad Conley and Greg Mitchell bought the restaurant in 2013 and a lot of ink has been poured out since the pancake stack and legendary tuna melted.
Now, Mitchell is working on a second project, a 50-
The seating restaurant at Francis Hotel Portland West End is called Flood's. “[Flood’s]
"It means Joseph Mitchell, the writer I 've always liked," Mitchell said . " (
No, it has nothing to do with the author).
"He wrote a lot of interesting and poignant articles on fishermen, butchers and fishmongers around New York City.
He has a character [in his book]called ‘Old Mr. Flood. ’[The character]
Not a real person;
He is a combination of people at the South Street Harbor Fish Market.
It's a collection of thoughts and characters for me.
"The Flood's will pay attention to dinner at the first opening and then serve breakfast and lunch on a later date.
Although Mitchell, who is still recruiting chefs and bar managers, has not yet identified specific dishes (
Apart from the "delicious burger ")
He said the menu focused on classic, hearty meat and fish dishes, including Sunday barbecues, which he hoped would "remind people to eat at grandma's house at 3 or 4 pm.
"A list of drinks for cocktails, beer and wine will provide a great place for hotel guests and locals to relax at night.
Conley has started running his own project from the Palace restaurant-rose food, a Jewish deli.
The timing must be perfect for Mitchell.

Mitchell, who closed on November, contacted Tony delowa, one of the hotel owners and a palace dinner enthusiast, to see if there was any space available.
"I 've been thinking about doing something else," Mitchell said . ".
"I'm a little perfectionist and control freak, so I didn't feel comfortable accepting a new project until recently.
"The restaurant will consist of three rooms, one of which has a tin ceiling and fireplace, which Mitchell says will be used for large groups and parties.
The decorative influences from London and Paris will make the flood an ancient-
European atmosphere.

Mitchell, who has been sitting in an old dining car for nearly five years, is excited to solve some new problems on Flood's.
"This is a beautiful building with a great location," he said . "
"Anyone staying at the hotel will want to find a good place to eat.
It is a pleasure to know that the owners are very interested in hospitality in the places you find. ”Flood’s; 747 Congress
