It's hot.
The most recent evening, on the sidewalk in Pennick Haq Square, the line waiting for the table stretched.
It's easy to see why.
The food here is authentic and the taste is good. The waiters are friendly and fast.
We started our dinner with a bowl of soup. sopa de pollo ($5. 25).
Delicious broth with plenty of chicken, fresh tomatoes, zucchini, onions, coriander and rice.
We also tasted another appetizer, avocado salad ($4)
It's fresh and the taste is perfect.
Crab burrito ($10. 50)—
Three big tortillas with crab meat, onions and tomatoes and melted cheese on them.
Still steaming to the table.
The cheese was delicious, but the crab was not crushed.
It is placed on the bed of Spanish rice with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and sour cream.
We tried the tortillas, too.
Or Shepherd-like ($12)—
Three soft-fried tortillas with spicy grilled steak strips marinated with pineapple and chili sauce, fried beans and onions, tomatoes and coriander.
The bean dishes at El tapation are a bit different from many Mexican restaurants and we mean it's a great way to do it.
Beans are more of a thick soup, almost creamy, with melted cheese on it that can be put together.
It's arroz con pollos ($12. 50)
It is a rich spicy roast chicken strip with Spanish rice and avocado salad with flour tortillas on the side that can roll all or any number of ingredients as needed.
We also like shrimp fajitas ($14. 50), a half-
Marinated shrimp with Spanish rice, fried beans, avocado sauce, salad and sour cream, peppers, onions and tortillas.
The Fajitas itself is very delicious and satisfying, but the rice is a bit anaemic and lacks seasoning.
There is also a lot of food on the menu for children. Kids’ meals ($5)
Including a combination of cheese tacos and chips.
There is also a nice vegetarian section on the El tapino menu, which includes a vegetable taco salad ($7); burrito loco ($9. 50)
Served with mushrooms, zucchini, pumpkin, onions, tomatoes, melted cheese, Spanish rice, avocado salad sauce and sour cream;
And vegetables enchirito ($9. 50)
Burrito and burrito made of spinach, cheese, onions and tomatoes covered with melted cheese with Spanish rice, lettuce, tomato and sour cream.
For meat lovers, carnitas Tapatias ($12)
It is a pork dish fried with Spanish rice, fried beans, pico de gallo, jalapeno and three tortillas.
We also had soft beef tacos ($2. 75)and a tamale ($3).
The tacos are fantastic, tamale is made with a corn meal masa, not in this world.
It's even hard to find tamale in the northeast, not to mention tasting this homemade one.
We couldn't leave without satisfying our sweet tooth, so we shared an order from Chulos ($3)—
Fried dough sticks made of sugar, cinnamon and a little honey.
They are great.
No wonder diners line up at the front door.
