Fried Chicken And Waffles: The Dish The South Denied As Its Own?  -  most popular restaurant breakfast dishes survey

Call fried chicken and waffles traditional Southern food and you may be accused of participating in the Yankee conspiracy.
That's what we found last week, when our story about the dangers of the Southern fried diet prompted many to take root in the South to protest-don't pin that dish on us!
Here is a sample of the comments we received: "I am a Southerner and I have never heard of fried chicken on waffles!
"I live in the Deep South and I have never seen them in any of the" soul "food places I eat.
"I grew up in the South.
The first time I heard that fried chicken and waffles were summer jobs in Los Angeles. . .
It's definitely from Los Angeles, not from the south.
This is a Yankee.
Interpretation of staple food in the South.
"Your Gut reaction makes us wonder: is it wrong for us to mix carbs with fried food as a Southern background story?
We raised this issue with John T.
Director of southern gourmet league, fried chicken: American story by Edge.
"This is a South dish," Edge told salt, "but a South dish is removed from the South once or twice.

But Edge suspects that this dynamic duo may have been part of the American culinary repertoire, and it has been going on for a long time --
