NEW YORK (MainStreet)
The last time I went on a backpacking trip, I wanted to see as many worlds as possible on a fairly meager budget.
So we set some strict rules for ourselves.
The cost of one of our rooms will not exceed $20, entertainment costs no more than $10 per day, and only $5 per person per meal.
As two people who love to eat things, it looks scary at first.
Because we decided to pinch our own money, how much will we miss?
How often do we cheat because something looks amazing?
Are we too unrealistic?
Happily, it turns out that there is definitely a lot of places in the world where incredible quality food can be obtained with tight budgets.
It's just a question of finding them.
So, for those travelers who want to eat cake without having to pay for it, I give you my advice: five excellent destinations with less than $5 per meal.
France is not usually a cheap destination, and France, especially Paris, actually has some of the world's most famous street food.
While the euro has made life a little difficult for Americans, 3 euros can be bought for $5.
85. that's enough.
Starting from the city, the streets are dotted with small cracks. the Wizards pour the batter on the hot plate and then spread the batter on paper.
The price of crepes ranges from 2 euros to 4 euros, an excellent and cheap way to eat in the city of lights.
Try the crepes for lunch with ham, Swiss ham and omelette, or the famous crepes suzette with powdered sugar and lemon.
Find your way to Mouffetard Street for real diversity.
Near this university is also one of the most vibrant places in Paris, and it is an incredible place for travelers who want to eat cheap food.
On the journey, grab an egg roll from a small pie counter or roast chicken and potatoes for only 3 euros.
This is a signature dish on the streets of Paris, cooked slowly on a bed of potatoes so that they can be cooked in the feces of chicken.
Put it in a small basket, and when you enjoy your lunch, you can have a pleasant view of the sights and sounds of a busy Parisian community, or sit in a small park at the end of the street, enjoy a more leisurely meal.
Finally, don't miss the market on Saturday, collect some bread, cheese, produce products that are totally worthy of the French reputation, and stock up on cheap and delicious tastes.
In the world food market, the Cambodian people are basically missing. this is our loss.
The small country lies between Thailand and Vietnam, but is eclipsed by its more famous neighbors.
Nevertheless, Cambodia quietly created its own unique culinary style, defined mainly by the balance of lemon grass, sour and bitter herbs and sweet and spicy.
Amok and local Curry are definitely a must, take advantage of the root dish in a way that other regional curries skip completely.
Thailand, if you are reading this, sweet potatoes are something your Curry has been missing for the last millennium.
Nevertheless, according to Dary Mien of the Illinois Cambodian Association and memorial museum, these dishes are the most famous Cambodian dishes, but they are far from the most unique or the best.
"It will be there when you go further oh-my-
"Kindness is completely different from neighboring countries," said mien. "Cambodia [uses]fermented fish.
Some people tend to taste it for the first and second time, they have a good impression of it, others say, 'Oh, I will never go back again.
The fermented fish is really strong and used as a base in many soupsand]
The sauce of delicious food and the production of barbecue.
"In particular, travelers must try the local soup noodles, noum banh chock.
This curry noodle soup, often referred to as the national dish of Cambodia, is popular in both breakfast and lunch, and is a surprisingly effective way to beat the heat of the afternoon.
The best part for travelers looking at wallets, if not waistcoats?
With Cambodia riel trading at 4,000 against the dollar, it is difficult to find a dish that is less than $5. 00 budget.
Turkey tore itself off soaring's spires and Cappadocia's fairy chimneys for a while, making it easy to understand why Turkey is a consistent winner for cheap countries.
When I asked her about her favorite food choices on the Akila McConnell Road, the author of the fork of the road immediately grabbed Turkey and wrote: "The street food in Turkey is simply mouth-watering: kebabs, Pades, baklava, borek, and more, usually for less than $5. 00.
"While kebabs usually takes all the limelight away, this is a less well-known place for your attention on the next eastbound trip.
Pide, similar to pizza, is a long piece of bread with vegetables, spices and minced meat on it.
In a small restaurant, depending on your ingredients, these can be operated anywhere from six to twelve lira, equivalent to $3 to $6.
If you want to try something different, visit the Galata Bridge at sunset.
There, you will find a crowded market and a row of boats selling five lira grilled fish sandwiches, and the food of the day has almost no salt except salt and a bottle of lemon juice.
Be careful of the bones, however, no matter what you do, don't miss it.
One of the best meals in the city is on that dock.
It's hard to argue with experts and I won't even try in this case.
Turkey is undoubtedly the winner.
For any cheap traveler who wants to have a good meal, there are three things to do in Malaysia: 1.
Immigration history that mixes Chinese, Indian, Thai and British cultures with local Malaya.
A national food culture that hosts vendors every night on the city streets.
Currency trading more than 3-
The dollar-backed Malaysian street food is world-famous, to the point where Penang Island was once named by CNN as the preferred destination for street food throughout Asia.
It's easy to see why.
There are 15 ringgit to spend at the large Gourmet Garden in Penang, where you can easily put together an incredible meal from East and South Asia.
Be sure not to miss the clay pot rice while there.
This dish is imported from China and is completely localized and sounds a bit like it.
A pottery jar full of rice, spices, eggs and meat is baked in the oven until all turns red.
When it came out, most of the rice had been cooked to both sides (
Create a fried crispy crust that the author particularly likes).
It offers hot and spicy food, almost always much bigger than I can handle.
If you are looking for something lighter, try to buy wonmee for 10 ringgit or less.
"Plum" is the local word for noodles, in which case it refers to a noodle dish with small wonton and sliced pork.
Be sure to eat it with the broth and order it as a soup or "wet" to get the full effect.
Finally, the trip to Penang is incomplete without a trip to samosa in Little India.
Hang out for a while and take them out of the oil and they make a delicious lunch for no more than $1.
Thailand is honored on any cheap food list in the world.
Thai food is known for its depth, diversity and quality, and it becomes very affordable once you pay the local price for 30 baht.
In terms of the amazing food on the budget, Thailand is the originator of all the food. Don't miss out.

The extension of PhiladelphiaBeyond food, don't forget to be closer to home.
From Stephen Starr's chain theme restaurant to the excellent sushi restaurant in Morimoto, Philadelphia is soon known for its food.
Even the local bar was involved.
When I practiced the law in Philadelphia, my corner bar had cheap beer, football on TV, and a fine rib burger with aioli fries that would surprise you.
The local dining car was not excluded.
As Philadelphia's key location is "not New York", its food truck fleet is growing and the price is as low.
That doesn't mean everything is within your $5 price range, but it does open up many incredible options.
The best work is being done in the university town, which is the community around the University of Pennsylvania.
With places like Tyson bees, Alibaba and sugar Philadelphia, this is an outstanding area that can find both quality and diversity within a budget.
If you are in the city center, on Market Street in the city center, be sure to try Falafel in Christos.
This is one of the best food trucks I 've ever been to in my life, all stopped.
Finally, the bulgogi cheese steak from Koja truck is not to be missed.
Beyond our promised budget (
Once, I promise)
This sandwich serves Korean barbecue on Philadelphia's classic cheese steak. Listed at $9.
00, it's still a cheap thing, just an amazing sandwich.
I'm not going to start the "best cheese steak in Philadelphia" argument here because that's the case.
Dig deeper or share with friends.
I promise it's worth it.
