We all know that tortillas are not grown on the farm, but the Waterloo restaurant tortillas farm claims to provide a second good thing by using local ingredients to fully prepare Mexican cuisine inside.
Although there seemed to be endless road work in front of their residential area, when we reached 6, almost all the tables were taken away. m. on a Wednesday.
The dining area occupies most of their long rectangular dining room with a bar on the right and a partially open kitchen.
Our visit at the end of June coincidesyou-can-
Eat a taco night or, they call it, go out on a "Wednesday.
"After we sat down, our waiter told us that we could get as many tortillas as possible for $20 per person, but it should be noted that food troublemakers would be like pinata
My husband and I decided to stick to the menu and turn our attention to the drink selection.
In order to be consistent with the theme, there are many varieties of tequila, and flights can be sampled more widely.
My husband ordered a local craft beer ($8)
From the daily panel, I chose Furong sangria ($12)
Creative cocktail menu.
Each of us chose appetizers and 3 tortillas ($19).
The platter consists of up to three fillings and two sides of the house.
We chose six different fillings and sat down to enjoy our drinks.
My sangria sparkling wine is a beautiful ruby that matches the taste.
As the name suggests, it contains muhibiscus tea and Rishi wines mixed with citrus brandy, juice and fruit.
As our meal progressed, it became an ideal match for my meal.
We started with the triple threat launch board (half size, $10).
Warm tacos fries served with avocado sauce, salsa and spicy pickled vegetables are simple food.
Avocado sauce is creamy and salsa is delicious, but we really don't like the big chunks of pickled vegetables.
My first crispy smoked pork appetizer ($13)was excellent.
The smoked pig shoulder is crispy and delicious, but not all cooked according to the same standard.
Some parts contain chewy fat that is difficult to appetizing.
However, I found the fresh pineapple salsa and farm sauce salad in a pleasant contrast to the rich meat.
My tortillas platter filling has been selected with burrito, Mole chicken and fried plantain, rice and fried plantain is my choice.
I like carnitas best here, and it has a slow stewed pig shoulder with pico de gallo and guacamole.
The taste of the meat is perfect, and the ingredients are fresh and delicious.
Mole chicken by apricot-and cocoa-mole-
Braised chicken with farm sauce, queso blando and pineapple salsa.
The taste is also good, but I don't think the mole taste very strong, so the toppings make it more energetic.
The last thing I like is fried food, fried pinto beans with queso blando, sweet pepper salsa and cumin --fried onion.
The beans looked mild and I found that I was trying to eat more ingredients than the filling.
Rice and plantain are well prepared but no exception.
My husband says he likes camarona Taco best.
Grilled shrimp with creamy Mexican chili sauce and avocado sauce is not too spicy despite the spicy taste.
He also liked the mix of farm tapioca with sausage and Vera Cruz, tomato sauce and sesame.
The last thing he liked was the smoked chicken, which contained the thigh meat covered with lime.
Chili garlic sauce with onion salsa, queso blando, crema and Jack.
On the whole, we all think that each filling has a unique taste and is fully prepared.
To end our dinner, I had a spiced chocolate sauce ($3. 50 for one)
I refuse to share.
We really enjoyed tasting so many different flavors at a time.
The taco farm could be relaxing.
But their attitude has nothing to do with their food.
The time and effort they spent preparing the dishes was evident in every bite of food. 8 Erb St. W. , Waterloo519-208-1300www. tacofarm.
