Britain\'s curry houses disappearing - 50 per cent to close within 10 years - london indian restaurants thali dishes

One of the two British houses will be closed within 10 years, it was announced on Wednesday.
The frustrating forecast is that about 17,000 Indian restaurants will disappear from the street in the next ten years, from Yawar Khan, president of the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).
He said the problems faced by Indian restaurant owners in the UK such as shortage of chefs and rising costs have been widely publicized.
But a new threat comes from the failure of many restaurant owners to respond to changing customer needs, ignoring modern technology, which will herald the collapse of this once-thriving industry.
Mr. Khan said that although two restaurants are closed every week, the entire catering industry is booming and sales and new openings are increasing.
ACF represents more than 35,000 ethnic restaurants and takeaways in the UK
It includes India, China, Thailand and Malaysia, but the largest single group is Bangladesh.
In Britain, about nine out of ten curryants are owned by Bengali.
Mr Khan said: "The Bengali in the UK may be very closed and introverted.
We didn't see other food as a competition, nor did we seize new marketing opportunities such as social media platforms.
His message, he admits, "won't be very good for many of my members who continue to ignore warnings and take responsibility for the survival of their business . ".
"The ACF organized the Asia Award for best chefs of the year in recognition of the best chefs in the industry, encouraging the improvement of standards and inspiring the next generation of chefs.
It also held a roadshow nationwide to teach members about changes in dietary trends and key industry issues such as health, nutrition and hygiene.
Mr. Khan said: "We have been telling restaurants for years that they need to add their games with shorter menus, with more fish and vegetable dishes, with truly authentic local food
"Many people rarely see customers during lunch time, while bars and chains like Nandos serve thousands of spicy dishes throughout the day.
"When the temperature rises, the restaurant owner feels that there is no need for spicy --
It seems that it has never been hot in the subcontinent.
"Looking at the drinks menu, you will never know that they grow tea in India --
Where are green tea, oolong tea and white tea?
Where are Darjeeling, Assam, duo and Trafalgar?
"He was supported by Thomas Chen, president of the China takeout Association, who said:" running the best restaurants will survive and prosper --
Not-so-good operations will be replaced by a new wave of more innovative operators.
Teddy Chen of the Malaysian Restaurant Association added: "It would be sad to lose some of the old favorites, but there are some exciting and dynamic restaurant owners waiting for their location.
The 7 th Asia Hotel Awards will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel London from November 12.
