Canada\'s Rocky mountain range\'s ex-grand railroad hotels are now ski resorts - max restaurant skip the dishes
In the highlands of Alberta, across
The Canadian highway unfolds between Banff and Lake Louise, the mountain shoulder of the Rocky Mountainsto-
On both sides of the road, mountains and glaciers sparkled.
This place looks good in summer and is almost dangerous in traffic.
There are three ski resorts near Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and Norkey, so you will think the winter vacation here is easy to sell. Apparently not.
It was not until the 1970 s that two old railroad hotels in Banff National Park-the Banff Springs Hotel and the Lake Louise Castle-began to open in the winter.
Even now, these three ski resorts, under the cover of the big Whistler Blackcomb Mountain, have only a little bit of skiers and boarders from outside the province.
Now, as the snow falls down and starts to act, let me speak out for Banff, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. (
I can't speak for Noki because I didn't visit it during my trip).
The easiest way is to fly to Calgary and then travel 120 km west on the straight and frequentplowed Trans-Canada Highway.
You can go to downtown Banff.
There are still 16 kilometers from Sunshine Village and 60 km kilometers from Lake Louise.
As any summer tourist can prove, Banff (
1,383 above sea level;
Population approximately 8,300)
There are many nice restaurants and galleries, as well as the hot springs and magnificent views of the North Cascade Mountain.
Although I really like Mount Mammoth in California-especially the slippery land of 2023 hectares-there is more culture in the Banff area and more of it is foreign
The feeling of being more international.
Sunshine Villa on Banff Avenue the winter crowd is easier to manage than the summer crowd
The ski scene is partly made up of a large group of 20-year-olds in Australia who work as "weight lifting" and play in the snow.
"I'm tired of Australians," 24-year-
Old Smith said and sighed. we rode the cable car to the slope of Sunshine Village. He was kidding;
He came from Brisbane only recently.
He already thinks Banff is a "great man ".
"I will continue to renew my visa until I can't renew it," Smith said excitedly . ".
Around us, the horizon is filled with top-notch peaks, and the lower slopes are densely packed with clusters of evergreen trees.
Because this town and resort belongs to the first Banff National Park in Canada announced on 1885, you can't see the time
Shared apartments and holiday homes crawl along the river and Ridge.
In fact, to build a 172-
The room hotel, scheduled to open on Banff Avenue and Mu Si Street in 2016, the developer had to purchase and raze the existing three smaller hotels and two residences and move a historic one
The lonely house is now in the open space near the train station.
I think it will probably ship freight for the Coast any day.
For Sunshine Village, it is not so much a village as a hotel on the slopes, as well as some restaurants and shops.
But it is beautiful, and its more than a dozen elevators provide 111 kilometers of named running on 1,359 hectares of skiing land (
20% junior, 55% intermediate, 25% experts).
It feels even more distant because skiing doesn't start until you take a long cable car from the parking lot.
The resort has more than 3,000 to 5,000 skiers and boarders in its busiest days.
I was in the only open cable car.
This is the second day of the season)
Enjoy the view from several green places (beginner)and blue (intermediate)runs.
I also looked at the only ski resort in the Banff area.
In the hotel, Eco
Boutique Sunshine Mountain Hotel is a wooden but modern hotel redesigned and expanded by 2012 of Qianyang light village hotel. The 88-
The guest rooms are located above the cable car route and close most of the time at sunset, so it is not a place for nightlife lovers.
But it is worth a look for someone who pursues a cable car passage that is peaceful, quiet and relaxed.
My next stop is Lake Louise Ski Resort.
It runs more than 145 kilometers on 1,699 hectares of ski-able land.
From the top of the Glacier Express cable car, you can see a lake under a huge glacier a few miles down the valley.
This is Lake Louise, a favorite turquoise color in summer.
It is a cold mirror in winter
Nearby is the Fairmont Castle Lake Louise Hotel, which is close to ice skaters.
After squinting in front of the lake, Glacier and Castle for a while, I turned and walked down the slope.
Although the combination of the resort is 25% beginners, 45% intermediate and 30% specialists, each of the five elevators has a choice of blue or green.
During the busiest days, the resort's skiers and boarders could reach 7,000.
I did not ride the Lake Louise cable car (
Available for tourists, skiers and boarders)
Because it's not running yet.
But after running for a while, I did stop by the lake, where the ice was still getting hard, and the hikers were testing it by swinging the rocks in the middle.
There is a great thwack every time you log in!
Imagine Federer firing a rocket on the handball field that will echo in the valley.
Another choice of non
The ski in Banff is the Banff cable car, which can climb high on the sulfur mountain.
Its base is only a few hundred yards from Banff Upper Springs, an outdoor pool with water of 39 degrees Celsius sending endless steam clouds to the winter sky.
If you are short of money, go and buy a spring. it will cost about $6. 50 (RM23)
For each adult and skip the cable car, it will take about $32 (RM114).
If you have time, go to the Bow Falls View Point near Fairmont Banff Springs (
Magnificent buildings of these two old railway hotels).
Or go to caves and basin National Historic Sites and learn how this place became the birthplace of the urban and Canadian park systems, as a railroad employee discovered hot springs in early 1880.
But be sure to set aside time to enjoy my favorite Canadian mountain.
It is located in the southeast of the town. all the peaks are jagged and the charm is rough.
From the Scarlet Lake in Banff's suburbs, you can see it clearly, and the foreground is a row of dark trees.
If you arrive at the lake before dawn like I did, it may be frozen.
But as you walk on the edge of these mostly frozen lakes, where darkness rises, you'll see Rundle mountain in an epic skyline view.
You grab it up again.
The thawed Shoal colored by the pink and orange sunrise reflects down.
At this time, if you are taking pictures, you may lose the feeling of your fingers.
But I can't think of a better way to start a winter day. —
